Cameron Blaylock grew up in Houston and lives in Brooklyn. He is a photographer specializing in architectural and cultural commissions, with clients including the Van Alen Institute, the Menil Collection, the Municipal Art Society of New York, and Urban Design Forum. His work has appeared in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Paper, Surface, and elsewhere. He has worked as a darkroom printer at New York lab Black and White on White and taught darkroom printing at Bushwick Community Darkroom. Alongside his client work, he pursues long-term, place-based projects examining the relationships between people, infrastructure, and the everyday spaces of cities. He is currently working on two photobooks: 13 MPH, made while photographing New York City by bicycle, and Space City, an ongoing exploration of Houston's past, present, and possible futures using a hand-built panoramic camera.
